just passing through, don’t mind me
Creating around people has grown into something I look forward to often. Around 2011 I started street performing around The Harbor Rockwall. It’s about 20 minutes from Dallas. During this time, I learned so much about performing, how people perceive a street performer, and how to engage with different people. From children and adults, I learned studying people is what I should do more. Years and years of dancing, filming, and meeting people I come across, built up my comfortable meter with doing anything creative in public. Of course, I always make sure not to disturb anyone, just blend in with them. At this time, it was close to Christmas of 2021 and the pandemic keeps making its rounds back around, so I didn’t mind the mask. In fact, it’s been good training in it to practice my breathing. Here I filmed at the same spot for a few hours. Met nice people, danced with some curious little ones. By the end I was drained. As I was leaving a Police Officer who was around me the whole time asked, “Tired aren’t you?” I replied, “Yes sir.” with a laugh, he then said “I bet” as to acknowledge the work I did physically. That small interaction made me feel I wasn’t a bother. That’s a good sign.
